Responding to the Autumn Budget, Chief Executive of Street Works UK, Bob Gallienne said:

“Street Works UK welcomes the announcements in this Budget to boost economic growth, improve productivity, and deliver new services through investment in infrastructure. In particular we welcome polices to increase housebuilding, invest in electric vehicle charging, and develop 5G and full-fibre networks across the UK.

“All of these priorities are delivered through street works by utilities and their contractor partners. It is therefore essential that works are undertaken in the most efficient and cost-effective manner possible. Street works UK is calling for a more consistent and streamlined approach to managing works, that avoids punitive cost or regulations which might undermine the significant investments government is making. We look forward to working with government to deliver these priorities.”
