Following extensive work by Street Works UK, the Environment Agency (EA) has agreed to Street Works UK’s recent request to extend RPS 211 in light of the COVID-19 outbreak. Official confirmation on the extension has been issued by the EA.

Responding to the announcement, Street Works UK Chief Executive Clive Bairsto said: “I am delighted that the Environment Agency has listened to Street Works UK’s request and granted an extension to RPS 211, the Regulatory Position Statement on excavated waste. This will ensure much greater certainty and clarity during this turbulent period for the general public and the industry.

“Street Works UK has spent over a year working closely with the utility industry testing and refining a protocol for use by all those engaged on Street Works. We have been pleased to also work highly collaboratively with the regulator, and we remain strongly committed to delivering a solution that is usable, helpful,  fit for purpose and most of all protects our environment.
