Manchester Congestion Conversation

Street Works UK has responded to Manchester Mayor, Andy Burnham’s, “Congestion Conversation”. The response argued that Manchester’s unified permit scheme, the Greater Manchester Road Activities Programme (GMRAPS), has been somewhat successful in allowing utilities to operate effectively across the city and in coordinating works. It argued further measures to move works must take account of the possible economic impact of delaying infrastructure delivery and investment. The full response can be found here.

Electric Vehicles: Developing the Market and Infrastructure inquiry

Street Works UK has also responded to the Business Energy and Industrial Strategy Committee’s inquiry into the necessary infrastructure required to develop the electric vehicle market.

The response noted the increased volume of street works that will be required to install public charging points, and reinforce the electricity network as increased numbers of vehicles draw power. The full response can be found here.
