HAUC England has published Government-endorsed guidance on street works, and advice to practitioners on operating responsibly to help control the spread of COVID-19. Street Works UK is pleased to have taken a leading role in developing this guidance to help ensure our members can continue to undertake vital works that benefits the whole nation.

The document, agreed by the Department for Transport (DfT), Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS), HAUC, JAG and Street Works UK, provides guidance to all English highways authorities and utility companies on the continuation of street works.

The DCMS has advised that should anybody be engaged with a highways authority that does not appear to be following this guidance, or should a worker be prevented due to not having key worker status, this information should be flagged immediately either by contacting the department directly or through Street Works UK.

Street Works UK will continue to engage with the Department for Transport, highways authorities and regulators on the impact of COVID-19 on operations, and highlight the important of works to keep the nation moving at this uncertain time.
